Starting hand ranks

In poker, it is vital that you know the odds on the cards that you are holding from the off. There is no point playing cards if you don't know what the chances of winnning are!

For the purposes of this guide, we are going to assume you are playing Texas hold'em. 'All in' win percentages are based on going all in pre-flop with 3 callers.

Quarternary Hands

These hands a re a good start, but they need to hit on the board to become great. They are worth raising with, as you can be fairly confident that you have the best hand. However, you should not over commit yourself, as if you find yourself in a big pot with 3-4 players and 2 or more over-cards, you are likely to be in hot water. Having said that, a favourable board can make these hand very profitable.
