Reading Live 2008
Another Un-forgettable UK Wass Live Event!
Some of the friendly faces you'll meet at our live events!
This time nearly 70 Wassers travelled down south to the perfectly sized Maxim Casino in Reading near London. The weather was fabulous and the poker was even better; despite the staff’s initial panic of controlling so many crazy characters they quickly realised that all Wass players are a friendly, merry bunch! Some Wassers were VERY merry, everyone was in a holiday mood.
The first tournament was a £10 Buyin with a £10 Bounty. The hint of £10 bounties created some aggressive play on the tables and after just 60 mins of play several top regulars were knocked out!
One memorable hand had four players get pocket doubles with three of them going all-in pre-flop with A-A vs. K-K vs. Q-Q!! Pocket Rockets came out on top with A,K coming out on the flop.
Tommy Morgan (A.K.A. "Hami") went on to win the top prize money of £330 plus over £100 in bounty chips. Hats off to Hami for losing one of his bounty chips only to find it sitting in his pocket later on!
Just for the record Mr Wass was knocked out by Cillepus and the Mysterious Doc was knocked out by the unstoppable Hami.

The lack of sleep wasn’t enough to put of some hardcore Wassers with a bunch playing into the early hours in our very posh hotel.
The Main Poker Event
After many Wass members took full advantage of the hotel’s pool and a nearby greasy spoon we started the main freeze-out event with a £20 Buyin.
Three hands into the game and Doc was knocked out but generally a lot of people played more safely in this second tournament.
Many all-in calls and the odd bad beat later we finally whittled it down to ten people for the final table. With blinds reaching higher and higher every half an hour the final table picked up speed and five people went out in quick succession.
Out of the blue the ever-increasing crowd witnessed three all-in calls...pre-flop! This hand could well be the deciding factor on who wins overall and the hands were:
K-K vs. 10-10 vs. 5-5.
The Flop came out showing J, Q, 5 – Three of a Kind Fives is winning!
The Turn showed a 10 - Three of a Kind Tens is winning!
Amazingly the River showed a King - Three of a Kind Kings wins!
Last night’s winner Hami had the Trip Kings and he went on to win again, proving that one player can wipe the board and go home with a very impressive number of trophies, well done Hami!
