Roulette is said to date back to ancient Greek times but was made popular in French casinos over the last century. Roulette is arguably the most recognizable of all casino games. Your objective is to successfully predict the outcome of the spin of the wheel. The Roulette wheel contains 37 beds into which the ball will drop following the spin. You can choose a variety of bets with wide-ranging rewards.
The odds on roulette are very favourable - especially when playing European roulette. The house edge is 2.63% as opposed to 5.26% on American roulette.
How to play - the basics
The basics of roulette are very simple. Before the wheel spins, you have to simply put your chips on the roulette board in the places where you want to bet. for example, if you want to bet $10 on 14, you would simply place a $10 chip (or the equivalent) onto the square numbered 14.
There are several different types of bet you can place. By holding your mouse over the Roulette table at the casino these various options will be highlighted. The odds for these bets are desplayed in the table below;

You are able to make as many bets as you wish to - but beware of the table minimum and maximum. These vary from table to table in most casinos. Typically, there will be three different types of table - low stakes, medium stakes and high stakes. Typically, the low stakes will have a minimum stake of $1 and a maximum of $300, medium stakes will have a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $500 whilst high stakes will have a minimum of $10 and a maximum (if any) of $1000. If you wish to play for higher stakes, then usually you can contact the casino and they will be happy to accomodate you.
If you have ever watched roulette in a live casino, then you might be amazed at the amout of chips that players place. This is because often players will choose to aggressively cover several numbers, or even entire sections of the board in the hopes of a big win. Remember - you can 'cover' a single number in several different ways - all of which get paid. For example, a $10 bet on 14 and a $100 bet on red would see you win $350 for getting the number correct, and another $100 for getting the colour right (red).
Telling your chips apart
If you are playing on a public table, you will notice that everyone has differenr couloured chips. This allows you and the dealer to differenciate between the different players chips so that you do not get confused.
